How to connect with your spirit guides

A spirit guide is a soul that has the job of guiding a human toward a better life and enhanced spiritual awareness. These beings are there to watch over and protect us as we travel through our human existence. 

It is not always easy to connect with your spirit guide and most people have never harnessed their ability to do so. Psychics and mediums usually find it simple to connect with their own spirit guides but they have also accepted that they have certain abilities and have worked to develop what is called a “sixth sense”. 

Your sixth sense lies beneath a layer of logic and beliefs that come from the regular use of your other 5 senses. The things you see, smell, touch, taste and hear are what you consider your reality. These are the things that created your regular realm of knowledge. To channel into your sixth sense you will have to break through that original scope of thought that was built in your mind by your 5 basic senses and trust the wisdom that is produced by your sixth sense. 

If you wish to connect with your own spirit guide, you will need to work on building your general awareness. Basically, this means learning to trust your instincts. If you have a strong feeling about a person or situation, let that feeling guide you. The more you do this, the stronger your instincts will become which will build psychic energy and strengthen your awareness.

After you have laid the groundwork of being able to summon your own psychic energy, you are ready to begin trying to contact your spirit guide. It is best for you to be relaxed, comfortable and clear headed. Make sure to find a quite place alone where you will be free of distractions. Center yourself with meditation or just some deep relaxation breathes. 

When you feel that you are ready, you can greet your spirit guide, either in your mind or aloud. This may feel silly at first, like saying hello to a seemingly empty room. But in time, as your connection with your guide grows stronger, you won't think anything of it. Be patient with yourself. You may not feel the connection right away. If you feel silly, it's okay to giggle and it's also okay to try again later if the moment just doesn't feel right.
