Being alone on the Holidays without being lonely

This time of year is extremely difficult on everyone. But to those who live alone and do not have a place to go on the holidays, it can be almost unbearable. There are a few things one can do to help feel less lonely during the holiday season.

If you have a loved one who passed, you can honor them by putting a special ornament on the tree and acknowledging their presence. Many people believe that our loved ones spirits are still around us after the person has crossed. When you put the ornament on the tree, be sure to say it out loud to that person that this ornament represents your acknowledgement of their presence.

Another thing you can do is go out and spread goodwill. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, put together boxes of food for the hungry, donate to your favorite charity with time and money. Filling your life with helping others is a great way to make sure you are not lonely around the holidays. Now, more than ever, is the time to help others.

Lastly, look into adopting a pet. Pets really provide wonderful entertainment and companionship. There are shelters filled with dogs and cats who need a home. They don't want to be alone on the holidays either! Bringing a shelter pet home will be one of the best things you can do for yourself.

Happy Holidays! Love and light to you.
