Wicked Witches!

Halloween is the time of year when the veil between dimension is said to thin.This thin barrier seem to allow all kinds of spiritual communication and hijinks to occur. People seem to report all kinds of ghostly, unexplained events before, during, and shortly after Halloween. Witches are thought to  ride on Halloween. Goblins and spirits seem to surround us. Pumpkins full of light beam at us. Children disguised in costumes yell “trick or treat.” Things in general are not what they seem to be.This creates an opportunity for Wicked Fun on Halloween. 

There is a Broadway Musical named WICKED that celebrates the witch theme.There will be a television special starring the original stars of WICKED - Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth on Monday, October 29th at 10:00 p.m. EST. on NBC. 

Legends concerning witches go back far in history. Way back in time, there was little knowledge available about how to address medical concerns. The word witch is thought to mean wise one. A  woman that was able to help with healing was a valuable resource. Wise woman often used herbal remedies, assisted in labor and delivery, and were able to use plants to help with pain and suffering. 

Unfortunately, the powers that were in charge did not appreciate these wise women and turned people against them by accusing them of being evil. These wise women went from being sought out and highly regarded to someone that was reviled.

Fortunately, we no longer believe in evil witches. Stories like the one in WICKED are lots of fun and make us feel good about life in general through a combination of visual and audible treats. 

So, put on your black hat, black witch outfit, grab your magic wand and fly on your broomstick. Halloween is a great evening to celebrate the contributions of the wise women in your life.
