Holiday dinners are great fun. Family members will display the characterists of their sun sign. Watch and see.

We get quite a few comments from clients about regarding children. Since Halloween is a fun time for the child in all of us, I thought this would be a great opportunity to shed some light on how to deal with children astrologically.

If you are a teacher, parent, babysitter, aunt, uncle, grandparent, neighbor, coach, or just know a few children – these suggestions may help.

ARIES – Never, ever ignore your Aries child. This child usually knows what he/she wants and will let you know about it in no uncertain terms. Remember to watch over them carefully. They have a tendency to try to run even before they learn to walk. Make sure they stay far away from sharp objects. The temper tantrums just let off steam and should generally be ignored. On the plus side, Aries children tend to be very affectionate and can be generous to a fault. If you want your Aries child to do well, simply present a challenge and watch him/her go to town.

TAURUS – It is usually a waste of time to try to force a Taurus child to do something he/she does not want to do. This child may seem placid and quiet. However, if pushed, they may be very stubborn. In a country obsessed with germs and sickness, antibacterial soaps and sanitizers are becoming more and more common. But because such products contribute to the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, some researchers recommend sanitizers made with cinnamon oil, which has been shown in many studies to have powerful antimicrobial properties.

A recent study by a team of surgeons, for example, found that a solution made with cinnamon oil killed a number of common and hospital-acquired infections, like streptococcus and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA. The study found it was just as effective as several antiseptics widely used in hospitals. Another study by French researchers in 2008 had similar results, showing that at concentrations of 10 percent or less, cinnamon oil was effective against Staphylococcus, E. coli and several antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria.

Dr. Lawrence D. Rosen, a pediatrician in New Jersey who dispenses natural health advice on his blog, wholechildcenter.org, recommends a tried-and-true recipe for homemade hand sanitizer called thieves oil. “I add cinnamon bark, lemon oil and eucalyptus,” he said, adding, “The recipe goes back to the Middle Ages, where it was used by these thieves who would go around stealing jewelry from dead bodies, and they never got sick.”

Cinnamon oil, when applied topically, is generally safe. But in some people it can cause an allergic reaction.

Mecury is in retrograde in Libra starting Monday, September 7, 2009 and continues through Sunday, September 29th, 2009. The effects of this one will last into the middle of October. Just in time to start school. Should be interesting for parents, teachers and children. If you are taking classes yourself, be diligent with details.

This is usually not a good time to panic. Just pay attention. Organize yourself and others, backup files, double check everything – especially faxes, emails, notes from school (if they even make it home), appointments, legal documents, etc. Try to make sure that you know and understand what is going on!

Remember to choose your words carefully as they may easily be misunderstood. This is probably a good time to finish tasks and avoid starting anything new (too bad school is starting for some that week). The signs that will generally feel this retrograde the most are Libra (not too much diplomacy please), Aries (try not to be too impatient), Cancer (no pouting), and Capricorn (you cannot control everything).

Libra is ruled by Venus. So, relationships will probably be pushed to the forefront. The general inclination will be to rethink relationships. There will probably be an emphasis on communication and whether or not there is real partnership. The opportunity to clear up and resolve conflicts of the past (don’t bring up something new) may finally present itself.

It is interesting to note that you may reconnect with a past flame, estranged family member or old friend. This may provide a chance to bring closure and healing to old issues. It is probably a terrific time to take a hard and objective look at yourself and how you influence relationships. Are you too wishy washy? Are you too impatient? Are you too clingy? Are you too controlling?
