Ten Ways to Green Your Home for Under Ten Bucks (and if you don’t have ten bucks, five that are free)

March 10th, 2010

This article was written by By Lloyd Alter in Toronto, Canada on Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:00 PM ET and can be found on Planet Green’s website @ http://planetgreen.discovery.com/home-garden/green-home-ten-dollars.html
Things you can do that will make a real difference for no money at all.

1. Lower water heater temperature to 120°F
2. Decrease Thermostat temperature by 3°F
3. Wash clothes in cold water
4. Air dry clothes during summer
5. Turn off unneeded lights

Under Ten Bucks

Save Heat

1. Seal your windows with strippable caulk
This is the clear stuff that is designed to peel off when it is time to open the windows again, and seals the gaps that occur at any moving part of a window. This is particularly important if you have old windows where the seals have loosened up a bit.

2. Shrink-wrap your windows Get the plastic films that tape around your windows and then shrink tight under the heat from a hair dryer. They cut heat loss and are almost invisible. Not suitable for houses with cats, as we found out the hard way.

3. Weatherstrip your doors
A surprising amount of air leaks around them. Just be sure that the door will still close properly; I have added weatherstrip and then had to remove it again as the door just wouldn’t close properly with the added foam.

4. Get a snake
Or make your own—a door snake stops draughts from under a door where it is hard to weatherstrip.

5. Get some cheap slippers
Or a hoodie. The easiest way to feel warmer and save energy is to wear more clothing. It also keeps your house cleaner and warmer.

6. Change your furnace filter
The furnace has to work harder to push through all the schmutz that gets caught in your filter if it is doing its job.

Save Water

7. Lose the drips
A dripping faucet can waste 20 gallons of water a day. A leaking toilet can use 90,000 gallons of water in a month. Get out the wrench and change the washers on your sinks and showers, or get new washerless faucets. Keeping your existing equipment well maintained is probably the easiest and cheapest way to start saving water.

8. Add a faucet aerator
Mixing in the air reduces the water consumed. Some aerators have an on/off lever so that you can stop most of the water flow without affecting the temperature, saving even more water.

Save Electricity

9. Get a switched power bar
Plug all your wall-warts into the power strip so that it is easy to turn things off when you are not using them.

You can’t get them for ten bucks, but there are some very slick power bars out there now.

10. Change a light bulb
Still have any incandescent bulbs lighting your home? Time to change them; they have better color, faster starts and less mercury than ever.

How do you find your center? 9 things you can do now for a more peaceful existance.

March 7th, 2010

Living a centered peaceful existence is a goal of mine. Sometimes here at thepsychicline.com bookings and scheduling gets very hectic. I have to be able to find peace in order to really help each client get the right reader for him or her. I do try to offer a balanced and nice experience to each client when he or she calls. Some days we are better at finding balance than others, but there are some small things I recommend to find peace.

1. Take a deep breath. In times of great amounts of stress, close your eyes and fill your lungs with as much air as possible. Slowly release your breath while counting to five.

2. Chew some gum. Between the flavor and the tension taming action of chewing, this is a great way to relieve stress.

3. Smile. Yes, you! Smile even if you are sitting at your desk with no one else around.

4. Have a cup of tea. Tea is healthy, warm (or cold) and gives a much needed pick me up and some quick “me” time. I like to keep some yummy flavors from mightyleaf.com with me at all times.

5. Stretch. Do some basic stretches slowly. (breathe!!)

6. Make time for your favorite exercise. Having a hobby where you get to exercise and have fun is one of the best things you can do for your spirit.

7. Practice patience. There have been many times where I have had been at my wits end. But I realize that if I just practice being more patience and letting the impatience go, it really makes a huge difference in my own personal harmony.

8. How could we not say it . . .Get a reading. Unload your issues and have a moment of tranquility focusing on yourself. It is very healthy to unload your stresses by planning for the future.

9. Be on time for appointments. Not just with our readers, but in life in general. If I walk into a meeting or a lunch date late, I am immediately nervous. If I had planned ahead, there would have been much less stress and more peaceful feelings.

What is Dream Interpretation?

March 2nd, 2010

Dream interpretation: method of exploration of the unconscious, dream interpretation acquired with Freud a scientific shape. It mainly consists in the gathering of associations of the dreamer related to the manifest content.  In the words of Freud, the dream interpretation is the reversal of the psychic process that leads to the formation of dreams, that is the latent thoughts -> dream’s manifest content. The first historical dream interpreted by Freud himself is the the Irma’s injection. The psychoanalytic dream interpretation method was published by Freud in his Dream Interpretation [Traumdeutung] (1900).

This definition was found @ http://www.freudfile.org/psychoanalysis/dictionary.html

Here at Paramount Solutions, The Original Solution Psychics, we have several psychics/Clairvoyants who can interpret dreams. Please give us a call and we will hook you up with an expert in dream interpretation!

6 great places to meet WOMEN

February 27th, 2010

Just as I said, I did not want to leave the wonderful men who call us out in the cold. Here are some suggestions on where to meet the ladies.

1. Church. There are lots of nice ladies at church. :) Many of them call us! So go check them out! Just be sure it is a church you like, just in case.

2. Shopping districts. Ride your bike to the nearest trendy shopping district and have lunch with your dog. Seriously. You will get attention.

3. Volunteer. This is a great way to meet a really nice person who cares about a great cause.

4. Hardware stores. You know you need to go anyway! But in all seriousness, why not help a lady out!?

5. Cooking or art class. There are many great community centers around that offer wonderful opportunities to meet women. The ladies are often drawn to the cooking or art classes. Plus, these classes are not too girly and involve a great opportunity to socialize in a relaxed setting.

6. Sporting events. Yes, some women do go. You need to pay attention!!
